April 29, 2016

friends. i have a confession. my two best gals have been with the grandparents for six whole days.

i'm finally going to get my hands on them in just a few short hours when we meet up for the child hand-off.

i am beside myself.

will they remember who i am?
will they still love me?
will they retaliate against me and decide they'd rather live with nana and grandpa?

yes. yes. yes.

kaye already tells me she's going to go live with nana when she's mad at me. she can be a real treasure.

and you know what else is a treasure? linking up. let's do this thang...

1 | grab this here snazzy spring-themed button and link back to Sept. Farm.
2 | link up your post at the bottom of this post.
3 | tell all your friends + have a fantastic friday.

my five

1 | i ordered this shirt and this shirt. i've never had an off-the-shoulder top before so i'm pretty excited to check it out. i have broad shoulders so there's a pretty good chance it might be too tight.
but can we talk about this one? i might need to go back and order it. it's just my style. it looks so comfortable and their modal is nice for hot days.
ooo...and i love the way this color pops with white pants.

2 | landscaping!
friends - phase 3729 of establishing our home on a hill has started. my dad came to the farm and helped us landscape our flowerbeds. and by helped...i mean he's the creative genius with all the tools and i was the person kind of walking around trying to look busy. but in the end...it's really shaping up!
things we still need to do - install flower bed border, install ground cover (so it's not just dirt), plant a tree in front of the bathroom window, finish porch railing, make a bed swing...and...oh yeah. build a garage. that's right...we don't have a garage. we desperately need a garage. farmer - can we get a garage? can't i just pick one up at home depot or something?

3 | my gals on vay-cay
my two best gals have been on vacation with their grandparents which left me quite a big of extra time to...do whatever i wanted. did someone say glorious? it was. but probably the best part was a little extra quality time with my farmer. he's been so busy lately logging a trillion hours in his tractors...i decided i should probably spend a little time in the fields as well. i even brought him lunch once. that was a big deal.

4 | bikini challenge with tone it up!
we're on day five of the bikini challenge and i didn't realize how out of shape i was. i've certainly been neglecting my treadmill the past few months with work picking up...but it's time to get real real serious. unfortunately - getting real real serious also means whipping up some new recipes.
let's talk about the pancakes they have us making - they are made from protein powder and bananas. friends...i don't even really like bananas and these were SO good.
collard greens - it's like the leafiest green! i love them...and they are perfection for making a sandwich in. they hold so much and don't fall apart. if you're trying to steer clear of carbs or gluten...snag some collard greens. yum.

5 | class reunion

and quite possibly the biggest new...my 15 year high school class reunion is right around the corner. as in...this summer. somehow i started to feel quite guilty that we didn't have a 10 year (i think i was supposed to plan it...?) so i went for it with the 15. here are my questions -

1. have you attended a high school reunion?
2. was it worth it?
3. what was the most memorable part?

basically...i don't want this thing to bomb. i have the venue selected for a friday night mixer. we have a family bbq planned for the following day. but what else? should there be something more? help a gal out.

okay! while i stress-sweat over ruining our reunion...you link up!

  1. Umm, super jealous of your kid-free week at home! That sounds amazing! Also, the landscaping is looking great!

  2. Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. What a great spot of the earth you have!! Looks so beautiful where you live!

    xx, Elise

  4. I've never thought of using collard greens to make a sandwich in! That sounds interesting.

  5. I've helped plan a few of our class reunions (just had our 20 year last year). What has worked best honestly is something that hasn't required people to make too much of a commitment ahead of time. Any time we've done anything too structured, like pick a place where we had to have reservations for dinner or pay ahead per person, we've had low turnout. For our 20 year, we picked a local bar/restaurant close to our home town and just said show up! Then we did a family bbq the next day. The family bbq generally has better turn out for us. We set up a Facebook group to try to get the word out about the reunion. It helped this last time since pretty much no one has each others addresses anymore and who has time to try to call everyone's parents. Good luck! I think everyone gets a little anxious for their reunions, but I've truly enjoyed mine once I'm there. Good luck!

  6. Your landscaping looks so good so far!! Yay for getting your gals back today! I'm glad you were able to get some extra time with your farmer this week though :)

  7. I love your green Hunter boots. I always thought if I bought some I would get red or turquoise, but that green is fun and springy, too! I saw a red pair at Nordstrom Rack this week and am kicking myself for not getting them! I had a blast at my 10 year reunion. We had a BBQ by the river and no formal agenda planned, just hanging out. I think more people showed up because it wasn't "formal" or stuffy. No need to go out and buy a new outfit or anything. My favorite part was that I got to know people that I never really hung out with in school (I only had 112 in my class). It's amazing how different everyone was 10 years later.

  8. Garages may be overated....mine has been full of crap for the passed 15 months so I haven't been able to park there...summer project! I have never even considered the collard green thing...thanks for the tip. Happy Friday!

  9. OK first off, you lucky girl having the whole week to yourself! Second of all, yes, I had a ten year class reunion and it was so much fun! I like high school OK - didn't hate it, but I wouldn't say that I LOVED it either, but our reunion was SUCH. A. BLAST. You MUST do one! My favorite part of the whole weekend was the cocktail evening that we had. Must do!

  10. Okay, I might have to jump on the banana pancakes thing. Those look so good!!

  11. While I miss not having more land, I am enjoying the lawn care maintenance that our HOA gives us. I do not have a green thumb.

  12. I was homeschooled, so I'm pretty sure my high school reunion with me, myself, and I would either be really lame or really awesome :p

Your home is the cutest and all the work you're doing on it is looking so good! We're in exterior improvement mode right now too. It's a lot of work!

  13. I went to high school with 54 girls. I was part of the planning committee for our ten year reunion. It was a dinner at a bar. LOL Not a whole big weekend thing. Sometimes I wish it were! Loving the landscaping and your hunters!

  14. wow 6 days the girls were gone!? I don't think I'd even know what to do with myself, oh wait, yes I do, I would sleep!! Your landscaping is looking really nice!!

this gal loves your comments so feel free to leave one or seven!
