weekly meal planning...so sexy

i have a super sexy topic to discuss today - weekly meal planning.

see? so so sexy. like...as sexy as chris the bachelor getting freaky with carly on their sex therapist date. oh wait...that was just terribly awkward. so awkward i couldn't watch. anyway...

i want to talk a little bit about my meal planning habits.

confession - these past few weeks have been the first time i've ever tried meal planning.

confession - i used to waste a TON of food. i would buy the goods and have every intention of cooking...but then i wouldn't and the food would go to waste. shameful really.

but now? now i'm on board with meal planning. people...meal planning works. not only does it make dinner easier to make each night, but it takes the stress out of the "it's 3 o'clock...what should i make for dinner?" the plan is already in place and the odds are it's going to be healthier than the frozen chicken nuggets i usually want to throw in the oven. and as mentioned before...i'm not wasting nearly as much food. that might be my most favorite part about meal planning.

i'm feeling very grown up.

so grown up, in fact, that i whipped up a pretty, little meal planning sheet.

and you know what...if you think it's pretty, you can print it off by using this LINK.

excuse me now...i'm going to go be grown up. i may even start drinking wine.

  1. So great! I love meal planning! Is that weird? I love knowing I have a quick & healthy dinner waiting to be made at 5pm. I'm less stressed knowing I have a plan. Adorable printable too :) Meal planning is so much easier with a cute organizer to help!

  2. I am made a real effort so far to meal plan for at least 4 out of 7 nights. I know plans change, Mic gets stuck at the office, we hang out with friends, etc. so I don't want to buy for 7 nights and waste it either. I was doing fairly well writing it down, but the last couple of weeks I walked in the grocery store with no set plan. I just thought of a few meals off the top of my head and picked up the stuff. My bill has dropped by at least $50 a week! Crazy!!! But I love it!

  3. cute printable! I'm definitely gonna love using it. I've been meal planning for several years, but it definitely goes in spurts. I'm finally getting back into the swing of things since Nora was born and I've gone back to work...and it definitely makes things easier. I typically have the stuff for 4-5 meals and we inevitably don't use one of them due to plans changning, leftovers, etc...which gives me a good start for the next week! I've also started keeping a log of what food I have in the freezer so I can freezer/pantry shop first and make things with ingredients I already have on hand.

  4. love the printable! to me, planning the meals is the worst part. I feel like I can't ever come up with stuff we haven't had a million times.

  7. Too cute! I started official meal planning once I graduated college because I not only realized how much I was wasting, I found myself coming back from the store with ice cream and lettuce and being like WTF JUST HAPPENED. Meal planning definitely fixed that!

  9. I used to meal plan regularly, but fell off the wagon around the end of November/December. Hopefully this sheet will help me get back on track! Thanks for sharing!

  10. I love meal planning! Some weeks I will do great with it, other weeks I'm a slacker and it doesn't happen, but the weeks I do plan meals go SO much smoother and are healthier! Love the printable, so cute!

  11. Very cute printable. Is it crazy that I meal plan only two meals a week, and then we go to the grocery store mid week. It always seems like we have left overs for at least one day, and then sometimes three depending on how much we eat. We have the smallest fridge ever, so really only two meals plus all of our lunches fit in there at a time..sad I know. By Friday if we just scrounge for food for a meal, the fridge only has condiments in it. It's pathetic looking. But like you said we don't waste as much food that way!

  12. I use to be the same way! I would buy so much good food and then just watch it go bad. Meal planning has been the answer to all my porblems. Now I'm not wasiting food or money and grocery shopping is so much easier. I get in and get out!

  14. I'm the worst when it comes to meal planning! I've found that what seems to work best for me is to stock up my freezer with some homemade freezer meals so that I only have to "plan" for a day or two a week!
