why kaye + i don't get dressed on the regular (+ short shorts in CA)

here are the facts.

1. we live on a farm and it's rare if kaye and i see anyone but our farmer on a regular basis.

2. maybe sometimes kaye and i stay in our pajamas…or something that looks oddly like pajamas (but i'm claiming are not pajamas)…at least two three four many times a week.

3. fact - i have some lovely clothing rotting away in my closet.

4. fact - so does kaye. the $$ i've spent on her clothing that doesn't get "ooo'd and aaah'd" makes me cringe. don't tell my farmer…though i'm sure he has a pretty good idea.
let me get to my point.

when kaye and i went to california the weather was stunning. 70 - 80º every day with little to no breeze. count me in.

you can see kaye wasn't used to the warm weather from her sweaty forehead and flushed cheeks.

a stark contrast to the 55º and wind gusts up to 60 mph on the farm.

it's safe to say that if kaye wasn't napping we were outside. and since we were outside we were around people all the time.

people at the park. people at the coffee shop. people at lunch. people on campus. (both my brother-in-law and sister work at chico state.)
we had to look good! i'm talking hair done and matching clothes. which is about 100% more than what we do to get ready on the farm.

above kaye is sporting her easter outfit. while some people take a more relaxed approach, (read: the shortest shorts i've ever seen on a man…must be a california thing.) kaye wanted to be in a dress, complete with matching sandals…and enjoy a rousing game of darts.
i guess we'll have to head back to california if we ever want to get any good use out of the clothes we have…either that or purchase a second home in a more habitable locale.

first world problems, people. first. world. problems.

  2. i use to feel like if i dressed nice and no one saw I wasted an outfit. now i feel like that about addilyn's outfits, while i wear work out clothes 80% of the time.

  3. I'm sort of halfway where you are at when it comes to clothing. I work on a farm (read: clean horse stalls and work horses) so many days of the week that I don't want to dress up because I know I am going to smell like a horse and be covered in dirt. Oh first world problems. I have no solutions ha ha!

  5. so cute! and I'm not gonna lie...I do secretly enjoy those times each week when Elyse & I have to get all dolled up...whether it's for church or work or whatever! I just love dressing my little girl!

  6. I used to just put an outfit on my daughter to take pictures of her in it. Proof. I got over it with my second. Because let's be honest. Pjs are where it's AT.

  7. The Easter dress is so cute! I sit in yoga pants and work out shirts every day, so I can relate.

  8. Thank you for mentioning the shorts; K is adorbs, but I could not get past the shorts in that picture!

Also from a California gal, let me tell you that short shorts is most definitely NOT a Cali thing. It's just that dude's thing...along with the anklet {or ankle tattoo? Not sure which one is worse}. OK, I'll stop.

  9. I don't live on a farm and we still enjoy our pjs on the regular. But, sometimes it is nice to dress up and see people too. She is so cute in those outfits. Where do you like to get her shoes? Specific, or just whatever catches your eye?

  10. We don't live on a farm & we don't get all dolled up either unless we are going out in public! I contribute it to 2nd and 3rd child syndrome!!!

If you think that man's shorts are short, you should have saw the dude I saw in Bristol, TN. I laughed my rear off!
